Emotional Quotient Disclaimer
This section contains critical protective information for parents, students, and schools regarding the Emotional Quotient (EQ) subject offered by iThinkers Olympiad.
📋 Official EQ Disclaimer — as displayed on the iThinkers Olympiad EQ Subject Page
The Emotional Quotient (EQ) assessment is an indicative tool based on student responses and does not constitute a psychological evaluation or clinical assessment. Results may vary due to response patterns, interpretation, or situational factors at the time of the test.
iThinkers Olympiad shall not be held responsible for decisions made solely based on this report. Parents and educators are advised to use the results as a reference point for further observation and guidance.
The above is iThinkers Olympiad's official position. The detailed clauses below expand upon it and provide the full legal framework governing the EQ subject — including what the assessment is, what it is not, and the responsibilities of schools, parents, and Fivesep in relation to EQ results. The official statement and the detailed clauses below must be read together.
🎓
Educational Purpose Only
The EQ paper is an educational activity intended to introduce students to concepts of emotional awareness, self-reflection, and interpersonal skills — as part of holistic learning under NEP 2020.
🚫
Not a Clinical Diagnosis
An EQ score from the iThinkers Olympiad does not diagnose, screen for, or indicate the presence or absence of any psychological condition, emotional disorder, or mental health concern.
❤️
Not a Measure of Mental Health
A student's EQ score reflects their responses to situational questions in an educational examination context only. It does not assess, measure, or reflect the student's actual emotional or mental health status.
🤝
Not for Comparison or Labelling
EQ scores and results must not be used to label, compare, categorise, or stigmatise any student. Every child's emotional journey is unique and cannot be captured by a single examination score.
6.1Indicative Tool — Educational and Awareness Purpose: As stated in the official EQ disclaimer above, the iThinkers Olympiad Emotional Quotient (EQ) assessment is an indicative tool based on student responses. Results may vary due to response patterns, interpretation, or situational factors at the time of the test. The EQ examination is designed to introduce students in Classes 3–10 to foundational concepts of emotional awareness, empathy, self-regulation, and interpersonal skills — aligned with the holistic development objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It is not a psychological test, not a personality assessment, and not a measure of emotional intelligence as defined in clinical or research psychology literature.
6.2No Diagnostic Validity: The iThinkers Olympiad EQ examination and its results, scores, ranks, and certificates have no clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic validity. They are not validated psychological assessments. They cannot and must not be used for any clinical, therapeutic, educational placement, or special needs assessment purpose. Any use of the EQ results for such purposes is entirely at the user's own risk and Fivesep expressly disclaims all responsibility for any such use.
6.3Not a Reflection of Mental Health: A student's performance in the EQ examination — whether high, average, or low — is not a reflection of their emotional wellbeing, mental health, or psychological condition. A lower score does not indicate a mental health concern, emotional disorder, or problem requiring intervention. A higher score does not guarantee emotional resilience or social competence in real life. Parents and educators are strongly cautioned against drawing clinical or behavioural conclusions from EQ examination results.
6.4No Stigmatisation or Labelling: Schools, teachers, parents, and students must not use EQ results to label, stigmatise, compare, rank emotionally, or categorise any student in any manner. The EQ examination is designed as a reflective and awareness-building activity, not as a competitive or comparative measure of emotional worth. Fivesep strongly discourages any communication to students that suggests their EQ score makes them "emotionally superior" or "emotionally deficient" compared to peers.
6.5Question Design: The EQ examination questions are designed around general situational and scenario-based prompts appropriate for the student's age and class. Questions do not seek to elicit sensitive personal information about a student's family circumstances, trauma history, or mental health. However, students' individual responses to situational prompts may naturally draw on personal experience. Participation in the EQ examination is entirely voluntary at the school's discretion.
6.6Content Development: The EQ syllabus and question content are developed by Fivesep's academic team, drawing on established educational frameworks for social-emotional learning (SEL) appropriate for school-aged children. The content is inspired by, but not directly derived from, any proprietary or commercially licensed psychological assessment instrument (such as the EQ-i 2.0, Bar-On EQ Inventory, or similar tools). Fivesep does not claim that its EQ examination is derived from, endorsed by, or equivalent to any such proprietary tool.
⚠️ Important Message for Parents & Guardians:
If you have any concern about your child's emotional wellbeing, mental health, or social development — whether or not related to their EQ examination result — we strongly encourage you to seek support from a qualified mental health professional, child psychologist, or counsellor. The iThinkers Olympiad EQ examination is not a substitute for professional assessment, and Fivesep is not equipped to provide guidance on individual students' emotional or psychological needs.
Your child's overall wellbeing matters far more than any examination result.
6.7School's Responsibility: Schools that offer the EQ subject to their students are responsible for communicating this disclaimer to parents and guardians before registration and before results are shared. Schools must not present EQ results as psychological assessments or use them in any manner that could be stigmatising or distressing to students.
6.8Results as a Reference Point Only: As stated in the official EQ disclaimer, iThinkers Olympiad shall not be held responsible for decisions made solely based on the EQ report. Parents and educators are advised to use EQ results as a reference point for further observation and guidance only — not as a definitive assessment, diagnostic conclusion, or basis for any significant decision regarding the student. Fivesep expressly disclaims all liability arising from any misinterpretation, misuse, or inappropriate reliance on EQ examination results by any school, student, parent, educator, healthcare professional, or third party.
